At the end of the day, I won’t remember him for his looks. I will remember him for the way he makes me feel. 

He came into my life when I least expected it. I was not looking for him, but he somehow managed to find me!

Since meeting my husband, I believe that there is a plan for us all. I know I say this often but this is “my mantra”! 

I believe that when you are at your weakest, when you feel like there is no more strength to give, that’s when miracles happen.

This miracle can manifest as greater inner strength, a hand from a stranger or a new found relationship. 

“The way you make people feel stays with them”. 

I came into our relationship with no expectations. I did not ask of anything and I had very little to give. But none of that mattered to him. He didn’t care about the past, he was only interested in my tomorrow. It took a lot of work and effort for me to rise again. His small gestures restored me piece by piece. It took years before I felt my strength again. 

It was the simple things which made a big difference! There was so much love in his eyes. Sometimes he would say nothing but I felt like he had said so much. When he held me, I knew I was safe. He made me laugh and bought me flowers. He stayed up all night talking to me and didn’t wear his glasses for weeks because he thought I wouldn’t like them. 

He did everything to make me happy and never once thought about himself. He would rise early to get the first train to see me and take the last train home, just so he got as much time with me as possible. When he saw me, he made me feel beautiful. I always lacked confidence and never saw myself as attractive but he saw past all of that. When he looked at me, it was as if he was looking at my soul. 

After 18 years together, he still makes me feel like I am the only thing that matters. 

We are both getting older and as we watch our grey hairs appear we laugh at how much we have changed. I don’t see his external appearance either, I only see the kind, caring and loving man that he is.

I don’t care about the way he looks. I care about the way he makes me feel today and the way he has always made me feel.

If you are in a relationship where your partner loves you just as you are, hold on tighter because this kind of love is a gift from the universe.
