Your child won’t love you any less if you take some time out to recharge!

The most important part of being a parent is looking after yourself. It’s funny how we seem to miss this part! 🤨

I believe that we don’t pay enough attention to ourselves when we become parents.

“There‘s never any time”! That’s what you say right?!

I get it, being a parent can be full on. However, given that your job is 24/7 with no rest bite, don’t you think you deserve some time out?!

Let’s look at it another way. When you go to work and work 9/10 hours a day, do you ask your boss for annual leave? You do right?!

What makes you ask for leave? Is it because you are tired, you just want some time for yourself or is it because you feel like you deserve it?

So what stops you from giving yourself the same permission when you become a parent?

I am a conscious parent coach and I am not suggesting that you leave your children at home and go on a vacation for 2 weeks. Oh noooo…

Make time for you

However, I am merely suggesting that you find ways to allocate some time for yourself to do the things that you love. This is super important for your mental, physical and social wellbeing.

If you don’t make the time for yourself, you will feel tired, exhausted, overworked and underappreciated. No one wants to live like that. There will come a point when you will stop and think, “how did my life end up like this”? You will look in the mirror and won’t recognise yourself. Time would have passed and you would not have done any of the things you wanted to do. So I encourage you to make time for yourself now!

Your children will not love you any less if you spend 30 mins in a quiet corner with a book. Whilst it is important for you to spend quality time with your children, it’s only valuable if you are mentally present.

When you incorporate time to recharge, you free yourself from daily stresses, you are able to see clarity, you are able to enjoy life and think more rationally when making decisions. You feel rested and therefore have more energy to play with your children. You are emotionally more engaging and therefore feel more connected with those around you.

You are so important. I invite you to invest in yourself so you can be not a “good parent” but a “great parent”.
